Sailboat Project

Dinosaur Museum

We went to the Dinosaur Museum on Tuesday at Thanksgiving Point. Lance has a small break from school so he came with us and we had a really fun morning all together. It was all of our first time to experience a Dinosaur Museum so it was especially fun. Here are some fun moments...

The Haircut

I cut Gavin's hair really cute yesterday. I got distracted as I was putting everything away by child #2. And while I was caring for Jack's needs I heard a faint snip, snip come from the bathroom. I would have thought that Gavin's hair was too short for him to get the scissors around enough to cut. I didn't know that the only thing too short would have been a shaved head. He cut the front of his hair down to stubble. Maybe Lance should try that instead of shaving. So I had to buzz his hair to camoflauge the damage. I knew this was coming. Doesn't every child cut their hair at some point? I think he is still too young to have learned a lesson so I may be writing about this again.

After I buzzed his hair he looked in the mirror and said with a big grin, "I look like Humpty Dumpty." Which is what he calls his bald (by shaving) uncle behind his back.

My Favorite Costume

This was just funny. Gavin will come up with any excuse to not take a nap. After I think 2 hours of attempting to get him to fall asleep, he comes in (when I was on my last straw) looking like this:

And says this:

"Mommy, I'm wearing a costume. I'm a diaper changing pad. It's my favorite costume."

And just like that, he got out of his nap. It still makes me laugh.

You Know You're in Utah When...

There was a HUGE event in my neighborhood this morning that consumed hours of nosey neighbor's time. (Like me who walked by and took a picture for my stupid blog).
The roads were completely blocked and firemen, ambulances, policemen, city workers, helicopters and news crews were all there to protect, repair and report on …

A 4 foot retaining wall that fell. That's right. You heard me.



Which they referred to as a “dangerous landslide”.

Ok I will give them a little more credit than that. The wall was made of large stones and it did tumble onto the public sidewalk. But seriously was all that really necessary?

I guess I’m glad that there isn’t much else going on in our town to employ these professional's services and I’m happy that didn’t fall on us as we were walking by, which we do daily.

Never Lose Hope!

I am so excited! I lost one of my favorite necklaces when Gavin was just a few months old. It was this key by Jessica Elliot that was more than what I normally spent on pendants. I remember laying it on the arm of the couch to feed him and then later when I went to find it, it was gone. Lance had let our dog Claire run crazily through the house on one of her adrenaline rushes and I secretly blamed him for the loss.


I kind of suspected our dog of eating it and imagined it in her stomach like Curious George and the puzzle piece and only being discovered if she ever had x-rays. I even inconspicuously looked at (not thru) her poop for a few days to no avail. Gavin is now 2 1/2 and when we moved a few months ago, I still held out hope for finding it when we went through our stuff. It never turned up. Well two days ago I had a feeling that I couldn't shake. I decided to tip the couch over and what do you know when I did that, I heard stuff move around inside the couch. I then opened a hole in the fabric that covered the bottom and peered in with a flashlight. Lo and behold there was our t.v. remote that had vanished a year ago. And stuck between the wood of two beams I saw a glimmer of silver that was more than a nail. I reached tongs down in the crevice and by my acute surgical skills, produced my long lost necklace. She's a beauty!



I stapled the fabric back and no harm done! Never underestimate what lurks in the dark underworld of your couch. There was much more that I discovered too. Old Nordstrom catologues, Lance's business cards... Surprisingly no crumbs or money.

Our Day at Thanksgiving Point!

This week we went to Thanksgiving Point with some friends and experienced the animal exhibits in Farm Country. They have almost every kind of farm animal there, except (according to Gavin), kitties and puppies. The most surprising element of the day was that they permit you to touch the animals while they are in their stalls. I didn't know that was still possible in the days of limitless lawsuits. I would have imagined that a large discovery park like that would be more cautious. It was refreshing to be someplace that was real and tangible for the kids. It almost took me out of time. The kids enjoyed every moment of the day. We are going back next week to check out the Dinosaur Museum. Here are some captured moments...

Before I forget...

I happened upon this darling children's boutique the other day. Although I am not of the budget to be considered their best clientelle, I loved perusing their selections. Absolutely adorable everything and prices are not bad compared to my typical beach city boutiques in S.D.

I loved the little boys clothing which I thought was very unique. Just thought I would share.

Actually the website is missing my favorite line of boy clothes that I saw in the store. I think it is new...
