Daddy's Boy

Lance took this picture of Gavin and said I had to put it on the blog. After carefully blurring out a certain area, I think it is now ready to be posted. I don't know why he would want to share this unsightly image of what our child looks like sometimes when he's trying to work his magic. All I can say is, father like son. And yes, this really is a candid shot. No posing for the camera here.

Jackson's First Birthday!

We celebrated our baby's first birthday on June 18th. He is more and more fun each day as he learns new things. He has become the little explorer; like he's always searching for new ways to make mom panic! For instance he climbs up on things that I didn't think he would be able to reach for a while. No, really he is so much fun to be around and is a sweet little cuddler. He's always been harder to win smiles from, but lately he just walks around with a big toothy smile on his face that scrunches up his nose. Maybe he was just saving it for when he could walk like his brother. What can I say; he's a healthy competitor!
Where are my presents?

Alright. I like them, I like them.

Ohh, this cake is like heaven.

Give me more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Birthday Present!

Here is Jackson playing with his new barn from Grandmommy and Papa. He loves it! And unfortunately for him, so does his brother. They have such fun playing with it together! Thank you Grandmommy & Papa!

You're Scary

PP So you are dead asleep, dreaming that you are a ridiculously hot CIA agent saving the world, when suddenly you feel that you are being watched. Your experienced 6th sense tells you that someone else is in the room, silently observing you. You wonder if you should use your martial arts defense tactics or perhaps just whip out your pulsing taser stun gun. Then as the breath of this stranger just ever so slightly moves a hair resting on your cheek you realize that feeling of being watched wasn’t part of your dream. As your worst fears leave you too paralyzed to open your eyes, eyes that wouldn’t do you much good in the dark without your glasses anyways, you quickly think about your real defense options.
P
Swinging fists?
P
A pillow fight?
P
Sex appeal??
P
None of these seem to manifest any courage or real hope, so understanding your chances of survival are limited, you unwillingly open your eyes resigned to death. Before you, stands a very blurry, very pale, little guy with wide dark eyes. Is it a ghost? You didn’t even consider your options for survival with the paranormal. Just as a slight sweat breaks out on your forehead the little ghost speaks. “Mama?”.
PP You rub your blurry eyes reaching for your glasses while turning on the bedside lamp. Phew. It’s just your two year old child awakening you for the third time that night. Your imagination gets a little jumpy when sleep deprived.
PP Lately this happens to Lance and I almost every night. Well, he probably isn’t envisioning himself as a shamelessly gorgeous CIA agent or seriously considering distracting an intruder with sexiness, but he does pee his pants opening his impaired eyes to a silent pale faced Gavin two inches from his face. He keeps waking up to him and whining, “You’re scary Gavin”. It makes me laugh so hard just thinking about it. (He’s been getting up so frequently for probably the last week because he has had an unexplained fever and wants to cuddle. The doctor just thinks it is a virus. Of course.) I do miss the days of the high-gated crib when I didn’t see my child until I chose to. At least we don’t have two little Casper’s floating around playing in the dark. I’m thankful Jackson hasn’t learned to escape the crib yet. And my kids really do need a tan.

Male Bonding

I think Lance really enjoys having sons. Here we see evidence of him rubbing off on Gavin.

I'm so thankful for my wonderful husband and babies.

They are my absolute joy!

Expressions of a 2 Year Old!

I am loving the stage that Gavin is in right now. The way he expresses himself is so hilarious!
PPP

Here he is saying, "I'm grumpy, mom".

PP

Here he's saying, "Snake eat me!"

PP

"I spray you mommy!"

Here he is saying, "I like to take my Sunday drive al naturale."

Seriously? What is he doing?

Leave him alone for 2 seconds and off come his clothes.

Got to love a 2 year old!

Cow Print Baby Blanket

Here is my second baby blanket attempt. I like the way this one turned out. Kimberlee, I have to redo the binding on yours!
Congrats to my friend Trish and her family that just had their second child! Can't wait to meet you little Alexander!

Brotherly Love

My boys are really sweet to eachother.
pp
Although sometimes Gavin likes to give Jackson too many hugs.

Who can blame him though? He's just so huggable!

Pouty Lip

So both of our parents say that Lance and I were masters at the pouty lip (our talent exceeded the rest of our siblings).

Which I think proved so successful for us in obtaining our every desire,

that we still use it to this day.

So really our kids had no chance.

Consider it a gift, children.

You're welcome.

Mommy’s Day Away

I went to my good friend’s bridal shower a few weeks ago and left the kids with their daddy for a longer stretch then usual. This is what happens when mommy is away. Upon arriving home after my fun afternoon with friends I asked the husband what Gavin had for lunch. He said that he forgot to feed him. I asked how long his nap was. He said he didn’t have one. Luckily the other kid makes more noise if he’s not fed, so Jackson DID have nourishment. We had to run errands so I made a good ol’ PB&J and we all hopped in the car. About 2 minutes down the road I noticed Gavin didn’t answer me so I turned around and saw this…

He is fast asleep clutching his PB&J in both hands with it smeared all over his chubby cheeks. Don't you just want a sticky kiss? Poor guy was so exhausted because he had such a fun, unstructured day with his dad. Don't we all need days like this?

Is it Weird for me to be Strangely Proud?

Gavin was unsupervised in the bathroom for one minute and he came out looking like this.

I'm impressed for 2 reasons:

1. that he knew where to apply the mascara (I don't even know if the hubby does).

2. that his hand/eye coordination is that good (he actually coated every lash without getting it in his eyes).

Well 3 I guess...

3. that he knew to reach for the Definicils for his lashes and not the YSL cils effet like I would have done for myself.

But he obviously doesn't watch me THAT closely or he would have applied at least one coat to the bottom lashes.

When did he learn to unscrew things?

Oh and Honey, you have no reason to be nervous.

Popcorn

Today Gavin & I ran into Target for a couple of things and we were in a big hurry. As we were rushing through he smelled the popcorn and said, "Yummmm, Popcorn". And I said, "When we get home I will make some popcorn". As soon as we got inside the house he ran into the kitchen and grabbed a can of corn. I was positive that he knew the difference, but since I was able to trade an unhealthy snack for a healthy one I didn't want to explain it just then. I will probably offer popcorn to him more often.
